Castello Di Ceri
Perched atop of a natural sandstone enscarpment, this incredible historic castle is now much more of a nobleman's palazzo than its original medieval origins. The castle lies, or more accurately forms part of the centre of the village and from its elevated position offers spectacular 360 degree views across the surrounding valleys.
Approached via a winding hairpin road, you can only imagine how much this would have daunted invaders in the past!
Once reached, you find the palazzo is set in tranquil and beautifully manicured grounds with the crenellated castle walls forming a perfect back drop. .
The formal entrance off the main street within the town opens from an official hallway leading to huge beautiful vaulted and frescoed reception rooms hinting at the grandeur of a bygone era.
The ground floor, with its many rooms, (including the special lemonary) provides the perfect setting for a banquet and the celebration of marriage. The Lemonary leads directly into the grounds offering the choice to either to celebrate indoors or out, depending upon the time of year.
The staircases lead to a variety of bedrooms on the upper floors, including the romantic bridal suite, which receives special treatment and decoration for every celebration, in the traditional Italian manner. Some of the rooms are quirky and less formal, offering a cosy and unique format for quests to spend the night.
The overall feeling is one of romance, chivalry and magic in this very special venue.
